William Henry Shober, husband, father, grandfather, passed away Sunday morning, May 12, 1996 to join "Mom" on Mothers Day.
William was born March 31, 1911 in Murray, Utah, to Mathew Shober and Christina Dergance Shober. He was preceded in death by Hermine, his wife of 50 years, whom he missed dearly; and brother, Mathew William, who died as a child. Survived by brother, Earnest E. Shober (Helen) of West Jordan; son, William H. Shober, Jr.; grandsons, Jay Benten, Adam Christopher, Ryan Mathew Shober, and Dog Sydney.
He loved to share memories about growing up in Murray. He enjoyed fishing as a young boy along Little Cottonwood Creek, and trapping muskrats down in the meadow where he built his home.
Dad loved his family and felt a great responsibility to provide for their care. He felt a loyalty to his life long employer, Kennecott Copper Corporation, where he took pride in his work as a clerk from October 22, 1935 until his retirement on September 1, 1973. He showed by example the responsibility of caring for and taking care of his family, and the value of honest hard work.
He belonged to a generation who valued Loyalty, honesty, hard work for a day's pay, and taking good care of whatever you owned, wearing it out first before purchasing something new.
As a family we are all grateful for the many happy memories we shared and blessings that come from great parenting and grandparenting.
Special Thanks to Dr. Peter Sundwall for his years of compassionate care.
