U. PROFESSOR NAMED TO COUNCIL OF LEARNED SOCIETIES

University of Utah professor Ronald M. Smelser has been selected as a delegate to the American Council of Learned Societies.

The private nonprofit council is comprised of 54 national scholarly organizations. Smelser will represent the German Studies Association. The council supports humanistic research through awards to individual scholars.Smelser is a past president of the German Studies Association, an interdisciplinary organization of 1,500 scholars worldwide. He will serve for four years as a delegate.
