Debra Jean Leininger Petersen was born June 10, 1952, in Larkspur, Calif. to Dr. and Mrs. C. Ray Leininger, formerly of Greenbrae, Calif. She died June 29, 1996, in a car accident north of Marysville, California.

She was married to Scott E. Petersen in the Oakland LDS Temple on August 3, 1979, and was divorced in February 1995.She is survived by her children, Brook Lynn and Curtis Ray ; her parents, who now reside in Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister, Bettie Jimenez of Sandy, Utah; brothers, Capt. Brad Leininger (Joy), USN, Virginia; Dr. Greg Leininger (Jackie) of So. Ogden, Utah; Doug Leininger (Sue) of Salt Lake City; and 18 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, C. Ray Leininger III.

Debbie graduated from Redwood High School in Larkspur, Calif. and received a BA in elementary education from Brigham Young University. She served an LDS mission in Hamburg, Germany. Following her mission, she taught school in the Jordan School District for three years. Following her marriage, she taught school in the Yuba City School District for 15 years.

She was a dedicated mother of the Mormon Church and served in many capacities. She was a devoted mother to her children. Her greatest loves were her children, family, friends, music, and the church.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. And, there were many.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 5, in Yuba City, Calif. Interment will be on Wednesday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 1750 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City.
