Olympic figure skating champion Oksana Baiul was hospitalized with a concussion after an early morning car crash in Bloomfield, Conn.

Baiul, 19, of Simsbury, suffered a cut to her scalp and received 12 stitches at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, said a hospital spokesman.Another person in the car, Ararat Zakarian, 30, of New York City, was treated for a broken finger and released from the hospital.

Police responded to a report of screeching tires at 2 a.m. Sunday and found that the car Baiul was in had gone off the road. Police were investigating the crash and would not say who was driving.
