Ken Whitaker never had to wait Monday for a foursome ahead of him. He just played through - and through and through.
Whitaker played 442 holes at the Benvenue Country Club from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., breaking the Guinness Book of World Records' 12-hour mark of 440.A crowd of several hundred people cheered Whitaker as his golf cart charged up the hill of his tie-breaking green with three minutes remaining.
The club's tennis pro played golf while raising money for medical expenses for the family of 9-year-old Jordan Morris, who died recently of brain cancer. Whitaker's wife, Joni, said the event so far has raised at least $10,000. His goal is $20,000.
