Merle Irene Jackson Pugh passed away October 25, 1997, at the Holladay Healthcare Center.

She was born to Thomas Burnside and Mary Emma Hill Jackson August 4, 1899 in Millcreek, Salt Lake County. She married Willard C. Pugh December 15, 1940 in the Mesa Temple. Willard passed away December 1, 1965.Merle was active in the LDS Church all her life. She worked in the Primary and Young Women's programs, held music positions, and supported the missionary program. She loved to sing, to travel, and to write. During her lifetime, she filled many journals recording her experiences.

Survivors include a brother, Stanley B. (Hazel) Jackson, Meridian, ID; and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved as if they were her own children. She left us a legacy of humor, generosity, and a love for life.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 31, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. at the Winder 7th Ward Chapel, 4350 South 1100 East. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Dr., and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.
