The Christmas season brings out the book buyers and with them dozens of book signings by authors. We cannot list every event but will try to list the highlights.
- GOLDEN BRAID BOOKS, 151 S. 500 East, will present a discussion on Chakra Awareness by Clinto Brock and Annissa Houser at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1. Call 322-1162 for details.- SUSAN PALMER, author of "The Tabernacle Bar," will return to the setting of her book, Logan, for a reading and signing on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 7 p.m, at In the Company of Friends, 130 N. 100 East. - THE KING'S ENGLISH, 1511 S. 1500 East, will stage is annual "Holiday Do" on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5-7 p.m. On hand to sign books will be Ann Cannon ("What's a Mother to Do?"), Susan Palmer ("The Tabernacle Bar") Thomas McNamee ("Return of the Wolf to Yellowstone") and the authors of "Utah Art and Sculpture." - THE FAMILY SUMMIT FOUNDATION in Ogden will host a "high tea" for Richard Paul Evans, noted Utah author. The tea will be at the Greenery Restaurant in Ogden and will be a fund-raiser for the organization. It will be on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 3-4:30 p.m., with a book signing from 5-8 p.m. Tickets are $20. Call 394-3318.
- BARNES AND NOBLE STORES will host several authors this week. Watch for: Susan Bosak, author of "Something to Remember Me By," at the downtown store on Friday, Dec. 5, from 6-8 p.m.; Mary E. Ross ("Lighten Up: The Art of Low Fat Gourmet Cooking") at the Cottonwood store from 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 5 and Diane Ellingson Smith ("Don't You Dare Give Up") at the Bountiful store on Dec. 5 from 7-9 p.m.
- JACQUELINE LANDEEN will demonstrate "Headin' for the Sweet Heat: Fruit and Fire Spice Cooking" at A Woman's Place Bookstore in Foothill Village from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6.
- ANITA STANSFIELD, popular LDS romance author, will hold a fictional wedding reception for two characters from her Christmas book, "Home for Christmas," on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 4-6 p.m. at the R. Spencer Hines Mansion, 383 W. 100 South in Provo. The public is invited and asked to bring a nonperishable food item for donation. Call 756-1041.
- DESERET BOOK will have several signings as well. Watch for Paul Thomas Smith and Mathew Brown signing "Symbols in Stone" from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Cottonwood Mall store; Beppie Harrison at the ZCMI Center store on Friday, Dec. 5, from noon to 2 p.m. along with Orson Scott Card and Blaine Yorgason.
