Franchise favorite Muggsy Bogues and second-year guard Tony Delk were traded by Charlotte Hornets to the Golden State Warriors on Friday in exchange for former all-star B.J. Armstrong.
Bogues, one of the two players left from Charlotte's 1988-89 expansion squad, is the NBA's career leader in assist-turnover ratio at 4.89 to 1.Armstrong, whose 43 percent accuracy rate from 3-point range ranks third on the NBA career list, has been a consistent day-to-day player. He put together a streak of 577 consecutive games that came to an end last season.
The 6-foot-2 guard has averaged 10.9 points and 3.5 assists in 622 career games and played on Chicago's championship teams in 1991, '92 and '93. He was on the Eastern Conference all-star team in 1994.
"He is an excellent shooter and brings valuable experience to the Hornets backcourt," Bass said. The team hopes to have Armstrong in uniform for Saturday night's home game against Indiana.
Bogues is Charlotte's career leader in assists (5,553), steals (1,064) and minutes (19,752).
Delk averaged 5.4 points a game in 61 games as a rookie last season. He has played 11 minutes in three games this season.
