A full-service kitchen will be installed at the new Juab High School facility now under construction.
Juab School District board members voted to accept the alternative at the new high school.Superintendent Kirk Wright told the board that a serving kitchen only, as previously planned, would cost $75,261. For an additional $63,825 a full-service kitchen could be built, said Wright.
Wright said the money was available in the construction budget, as many bids have come in lower than planned.
Nannette Barrett, district food services supervisor, recommended the addition of the full-service kitchen. Wright reported that Barrett thought additional manpower costs would be slight, as people would have to be hired to serve anyway, and many posts could be filled by half-time employees.
"As the district population continues to grow over the years we will need two full-service kitchens. If we add the full-service kitchen we will save future increases in building and equipment costs. Prices will only, likely, increase," said Wright.
