Gone to Riggers' Heaven. Beloved father, grandfather, husband and friend, Bob Diener, 76, died peacefully in his daughter Joan's home in Munroe, Louisiana on Feb. 27, 1997.
Our dad was born February 3, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Henry and Marie Mickelson Diener. He married Norma E. Willden September 5, 1947. Together they raised five children and were later divorced. He married Barbara Andrews who preceded him in death as did his daughter, Elaine and sister, Gloria. He is survived by four children, Daniel and Cheryl Diener, Joani and Butch Atherton, Doyle and Leanna Diener, Leslie and Chris Wiggins; his first wife, Norma; brother, Mike; and sisters, Carol and Margreta. Bob also has 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Bob dedicated his professional life to his wire rope splicing, rigging and inspection business and was highly respected, loved-even revered-by countless friends and associates in the wire rope and ski industries world wide. He retired to his little ranch in Grand Junction, Colorado in 1994 and enjoyed training and riding his horse Cha, wrestling with Waco his Texas longhorn Steer, and honing his engineering skills on countless designs and fabrications of tools and farm toys. He served honorably in the South Pacific during World War II and loved his country as much as he loved his life.
