J. Russell Kearl, 72, passed away May 8, 1997 at his home in River Heights, Utah.

He was born April 16, 1925 in Paris, Idaho to Chase and Hazel Loveless Kearl.He married Kathryn Warr in the Logan LDS Temple on January 3, 1944. Russ was manager of Anderson Lumber for 44 years and retired in 1995. At the time of his death he was on the Board of Directors of Anderson, Lewiston State Bank and Sunshine Terrace. He was a past-president of the Chamber of Commerce, Logan Rotary Club and the Cache County Planning and Zoning Commission.

Russ was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in the MIA, several bishoprics and high councils at the University and in his home stake.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, and their five children: James R. Kearl (Linda), Provo; Kristine Carlson (Gerald), Layton; Dan W. Kearl, Portland Oregon; Lauralyn Larsen (Ryan), North Logan; Jeffrey D. Kearl (Monica), Mantua; 25 grandchidlren; one sister, Phyllis Belnap (Bruce), three sisters-in-law, Marge Kearl, Ruth Kearl, and Mary Kearl, and a brother and sister-in-law, Betty and Richard Baird.

Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 11th and prior to the service from 10:30-12:30 p.m., Monday, May 12th at the Providence Stake Center, 800 So. 600 East, River Heights. Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Providence Stake Center. Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the Russ Kearl Memorial Youth Fund to benefit youth programs throughout Cache Valley c/o Lewiston State Bank, P.O. Box 32, Lewiston, Utah 84320.
