The push to save Academy Square as a library for Provo is getting an anonymous boost.
Doug Smoot, project chair for the Brigham Young Academy Foundation received a call this week from a prominent Provo family willing to match last-minute donation dollars up to $125,000.The donors, who have asked that their identities be kept secret, are anxious to help the foundation cross the finish line with the final $300,000 needed to secure the building before 5 p.m. June 30.
Smoot said there is actually less left to collect, "probably only about $200,000 or $250,000."
In addition, the foundation must turn $1.7 million in pledges into cash or bank letters of credit before the deadline.
