In a breakup described as friendly, Republican pundit and columnist Ariana Huffington and her husband, millionaire oilman and former California Rep. Michael Huffington, have divorced.
His lawyer, Marna Tucker, said the divorce here on Thursday was "one of the most amicable" ones she had ever seen.The couple will share custody of their two daughters, Christina, 6, and Isabella, 8, whom they described in a statement as "the most important thing in our lives."
"Therefore, we'll always remain a part of each's life," they said in the statement.
Ariana Huffington will live with her children in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles in a new home that was included in her multimillion-dollar divorce settlement.
The Huffingtons married in 1986 but lived increasingly separate lives after he lost a 1994 Senate race in California to Democrat Dianne Feinstein.
