Vaughn E. Shields, age 81, returned peacefully to his heavenly father on Sunday Jan. 11, 1998.
Born March 6, 1916 in South Jordan, Ut. to David A. and Elizabeth Sheppick Shields. He married Myrle Miner on Sept. 2, 1936 in American Fork, later solemnized in the Logan Temple. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a successful barber in Murray for over 35 years. He loved people, loved to talk and always had a smile to share. He was fun loving and never lost his sense of humor. His hobbies included bowling, golf and watching football and basketball with family. He took great pride in his beautiful yard. His greatest loves in life were his wife and family. He lovingly taught us all patience, honesty and the value of hard work. We all looked to him for advice and encouragement. Dad, you taught us to be proud of who we are and to enjoy the simple things in life. You were the greatest husband, dad and grandfather to us all. We will miss you very much.Survived by wife, Myrle; children, Earl V. Shields (Barbara); Joane Gile (Darrell), Marlene Feurer (Ralph); 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday Jan. 15th at 11 a.m. at the Murray 21st Ward Chapel, 6100 So. 10 West. Friends may call Wed. from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St. and Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
