Here is a calendar of dance and classical music concerts for the upcoming week:
- NANCY TOONE, faculty member at Weber State University and active member of the Utah Flute Association, will offer a flute recital at the Peery Lecture Hall of the Marriott Allied Health Building at WSU on Oct. 12. The music will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.- A NIGHT OF INTERDENOMINATIONAL sacred music will fill the Provo Tabernacle on Oct. 13, beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Sean Jackson of the Tree of Life Lutheran Church Choir will play the organ; the Provo Community Church Chancellor Choir, directed by Clark Swenson, will perform as will the Rock Canyon Assembly of God with Ron Coston directing.
The Seventh Day Adventists' music director Judy Porray will sing, and Lance Johnson of St. Mary's will perform an organ solo. And the Provo Oakhills from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be directed by Walter Whipple.
- THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH PHILHARMONIA, directed by Barlow Bradford, will perform a free concert at the Temple Square Assembly Hall on Oct. 14. The music will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will also feature Cassandria Barlow-Martindale, a senior in piano performance at the U. in a few choice selections.
- THE UTAH SYMPHONY CHAMBER ORCHESTRA will perform with Mack Wilberg and the Brigham Young University Choir at the de Jong Concert Hall in the Harris Fine Arts Center at BYU on Oct. 14. Curtain is 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $14 for general admission and $10 for BYU faculty, students and staff. Tickets can be purchased at the Fine Arts ticket office or by calling (801) 378-4322.
- THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH'S Performing Dance Company will present its fall concert that will run Oct. 15-17 and Oct. 22-24, at the Alice Sheets Marriott Center for Dance on the U. Campus. Curtain for all the performances is 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available for $7 general admission and $4 for seniors, students, faculty and staff at the door.
"Love & Murder" by Malashock Dance & Co. founder John Malashock, Abby Fiat's "Incantations," Ellen Bromberg's "The Black Dress," David Parsons' "Tower" and Kaye Richards' "Rapaz" will be on the performance bill.
Also on tap is the Repertory Dance Theatre, dancing with PDC for Lin Hwai-Min's "Crossing the Black Waters," a work RDT peformed for their season opener "Worldview II."
- THE AMERICAN WEST SYMPHONY, directed by Joel Rosenberg, will perform at the Temple Square Assembly Hall on Oct. 16-17, at 7:30 p.m. Both concerts are free.
The symphony will perform selected works from Prokofiev's "Romeo & Juliet" and Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story."
- THE UTAH FLUTE FESTIVAL, presented by the Utah Flute Association and the BYU School of Music, will run all-day workshops on Oct. 17 at the Harris Fine Arts Center at BYU. The day will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
Non-association members will be charged $5 for half day and $10 for a full day.
Festival guest artist this year is Dr. Mary Karen Clardy, professor of flute from University of North Texas. She will be accompanied by pianist Dian Daker-Drinkall.
- THE UTAH REGIONAL BALLET will perform a night of dance repertoire during "On the Move" at Kingsbury Hall on the U. campus to usher in its 1998-99 season.

- THE MADELEINE CHOIR SCHOOL CHORISTERS will give their fall recital at the All Saints Episcopal Church, 1710 S. Foothill Drive, on Oct 17. The music will begin at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
- THE MURRAY SYMPHONY, directed by Clint Frohm, will perform at Hillcrest Jr. High, 126 E. 5300 South, on Oct. 17. Curtain is 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for $5 and $3 will be available at the door.
- THE UTAH SYMPHONY CHAMBER ORCHESTRA will perform at Peery's Egyptian Theatre in Ogden on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

- FREE TICKETS for the upcoming Tanner Gift of Music concert featuring the Utah Synmphony, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the King's Singers will be up for grabs beginning Friday, Oct. 6, at Abravanel Hall, the Capitol Theatre, Kingsbury Hall, Ogden Symphony-Ballet Association, Utah Festival Opera Company in Logan, Eccles Theatre for the Performing Arts in Park City and the Harris Fine Arts box office at BYU.
The concert that will be held at the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Nov. 6-7 is free, but all the seats are reserved and tickets are required.
