O. Meredith Wilson, 89, former history professor and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Utah, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, of brain cancer in Eugene, Ore.
Mr. Wilson had also been president of the University of Oregon and the University of Minnesota, a political science professor at Brigham Young University and earned a doctorate at the University of California, Berkeley.He was chairman of a Ford Foundation commission, had served on many other national commissions, was the recipient of numerous honorary degrees and was chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Mr. Wilson served an LDS Church mission in England.
Funeral services will be held Saturday in Eugene. A memorial service is scheduled Sunday at the University of Oregon in Eugene, where he and his wife, Marian, had lived for many years.
