Robert Louis Rackley, our precious husband, son, brother, and friend, passed from this life at his home, in the arms of his loving wife and family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Robert was born in Salt Lake City on October 3, 1950. The only son of Sherman Rackley and Virginia Nilsson Rackley. At the time of Robert's death he was an officer of the Salt Lake City Police Dept. He became a police officer in June of 1974. Robert had a great ability in dealing with the public. Showing excellent judgment, and superior decision making skills. He was full of integrity and honor, a friend and a person who could do what had to be done. He was well respected by citizens and fellow officers alike. Children as a well as animals loved him too. His magnetic personality attracted countless friends.Preceded in death by his mother. Survived by his wife, and sweetheart, Cathleen Jenks Rackley, of Riverton, Utah; His father, Sherman Rackley, Murray; sisters, Sharon (Vern) Bair, Magna, Sandra Stewart and Susan (George) Foss, all of Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 19th, 11 a.m. at the Murray 10th Ward, 5750 South Nena Way (45 West between Main St. and West Temple, enter at 5900 South State Street.) Friends and family may call on Friday 6-8 pm, at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and at the ward chapel on Saturday one hour prior to the services.
