It's been 25 years since Marlo Thomas wrote the book on helping children unlearn sexual and racial stereotypes, and she says the problems are still around.

"Nobody has really solved these issues, and they don't seem to be writing about them in children's stories now," Thomas told Parade magazine for Sunday's issue.Thomas, who is publishing a 25th anniversary edition of her book "Free to Be . . . You and Me" and its sequel, "Free to Be . . . a Family," said she wrote her books from the heart.

"I would have liked someone to have said these things to me," she said.
