Valent Joseph Lasko, 87, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998 at his home, from a sudden heart attack.

He was born in Canon City, Colorado on December 10, 1910, to Valentine Lasko and Rose Sefcovic Lasko. He married Mary Borich on December 22, 1935 in Price, Utah. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the United Transportation Union for 50 years, and a member of St. James Parish in Ogden.Valent was a master gardener who shared the fruits of his labor with many friends and family. He spent many years enjoying hunting and fishing. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 1975 after 31 years as a brakeman and conductor. He was past president of the Dinsdale Water Company.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Borich Lasko, Ogden; two sons, Fred (Joyce) Lasko, Boulder City, NV; Val (Jill) LAsko, Eldorado Hills, CA; two daughters, Joanne (Gerald) Linford, Ogden; Rosemary Lasko, Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Gindro, Canon City, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 1998, at 2 p.m. at Ogden City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., from 1-1:45 a.m. prior to the graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Granite School District Education Foundation or St. James Parish Youth Group of Ogden.
