Pam entered this world September 15, 1955, to Fred and Evelyn Holz. She was born a free child and found freedom again on January 16, 1999.
The choices Pam made were always from her heart, and her heart directed her well. She followed her favorite Hawaiian proverb, "We give so that we remain in the hearts of others." Pam remains in the hearts of countless people stretching from Salt Lake City to Austin, Texas. Pam successfully created a distribution company called "Fresherbs" in Austin until her health required her to return to Salt Lake City.Pam loved the mountains (especially the Colorado mountains), her many dogs and cats, flowers in the spring, holidays, her family and Steve, and conversations with all her friends. Pam lived with all the complications of diabetes. When she was asked "how do you do it?", she would say that she always anticipated the next stage and began preparing. Her health, however, never stopped her from living. Pam was a Board Member of the Utah Independent Living Center until the end. She was a strong advocate for people with disabilities and chose to live her life as independently as possible. Pam was a volunteer for the Utah Arts Festival, Diabetes Association, and Easter Seals. During college she volunteered as a Big Sister and recently was encouraging others to help with this rewarding program.
Pam is survived by her husband/friend, Steve Johnston; her sister, Sharon and her son, Davin; her brother, David and his wife Cynthia, and his daughters, Alexandra, Vanessa, Sierra, and Marisa; her sister, Melodie and her husband Michael; her sister, Diann and her husband Michael and their daughter, Annette, her husband Michael and their children Madison, Kyle, and Shawnee; and Candy, the family dog. Preceded in death by her parents, Pam and Steve's loving dogs Jesus and Joshua, and their three sensitive cats Tommy, Poppy, and Daisy.
If Pam were a flower, she would be a rare orchid; if she were a precious stone, she would be a sapphire.
