LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) -- Koji Takasawa of Japan led the jumping and held on Sunday, despite a steady rain, to win the third World Cup-B nordic combined event in four days in this Olympic village.

Takasawa finished 20.8 seconds ahead of Norwegian Lars Andreas Ostvik, who was second in all three events. Andrea Longo and Andrea Cecon of Italy were third and fourth with local favorite Bill Demong of neighboring Vermontville fifth in the field of 44 skiers from nine nations.The 90-meter jumps took place Thursday, on the first day of competition, when officials and coaches - concerned about forecasts for bad weather - agreed to extra jumps.
