I am writing in regards to "ZCMI needs modest clothes," from the Readers' Forum, Sept. 13 from Marilyn Thomsen.
I am in total agreement with the views of Ms. Thomsen. ZCMI has let the public down in its selection of modest clothing for our young women, especially when it comes to prom dresses and formal wear.My daughter and I always go to ZCMI to begin our search for a modest dress, only to leave again saddened that the selection is so poor.
We have had relatives from Idaho who come here to shop for their daughters knowing that they will find a prom dress that will reflect LDS standards. But they, like those of us who live here, are disappointed that "not even ZCMI carries a modest prom dress."
A formal-wear dress that reflects LDS standards would have sleeves, a modest neckline and back, no slits up the thigh and would be comfortable to wear (in other words, it would not look as though the young woman needed to be sewn into it).
If you agree with me, please let your voice be heard! Let ZCMI and other merchants know that if they want our business, give us what we want.
