Brittney Nicole Nelson, daughter of Loni and Mark Nelson, blessed this earth with her arrival on Dec. 28, 1983. She returned to her Heavenly Father on Oct. 11, 1999.
Nicole brought with her the sort of spirit and outgoing personality that affected everyone she was in contact with. Her smile was contagious and her zest for living brought to her the love and admiration of her family and peers. Nicole was an active member of the LDS church and was a member of her young women's church group. As a sophomore at Bryce Valley High School, Nicole's school spirit was evident through her participation in numerous school activities. Nicole was active in volleyball, cheerleading and drill team. Though she loved all of these things, her true passion was horseback riding, which she competed in successfully for the past six years. Nicole rode in local rodeos as well as others in surrounding areas, every weekend that she possibly could. Barrel racing was her favorite event, and she excelled in it, as she did every thing else that she loved to do.
Her time with us was short but she made the most of it by living her life as if every day were her last. She let nothing stand in the way of doing the things she loved. She did not mind getting up at 4 in the morning to feed her horses, get to drill team practice, go to school, go to volleyball and cheerleading practice. Nicole's life exemplifies the age-old adage that it is not how long you live, but how well you live, and take advantage of all that life has to offer.
Through all of this, we hope that everyone who knew Nicole will help us celebrate her life, and reflect on how she touched our lives. Please join us in this celebration of her young life.
Nicole is survived by her parents, Mark and Loni Nelson; sisters, Gina Marie, Ashley Morgan and Taylor Ray; grandparents, Maria Arnold, Gene Arnold and Bill and Bonnie Nelson; aunts, June Ann (James) Miller; Marie (Brett) Merchant, Jolene (Clint) Pollock; uncles, Jack (Gaye) Nelson, Gene, David (Cassandra), and Robert Arnold. Numerous cousins, friends, teammates and other loved ones will miss Nicole, too.
Special thanks to all the staff at LDS Hospital for all their care and compassion. Special thanks to Tammy, Barb and Jacque.
