PROVO -- Still wondering how to celebrate the new millennium? First Night Provo 2000 has several ideas to help families ring in the new year.

First Night Provo will offer four dances, a huge tent with activities for the kids, carriage and trolley rides, entertainment including Crazy Coyote and Johnny Biscuit, a ball drop and balloon drop and fireworks show plus other activities throughout the downtown area. Two local musical groups will be featured in concert at the Provo Community Church, 175 N. University Ave. Fiddlesticks, a family group featuring a mix of traditional Celtic and English dance music, will present a concert. Residents can sing in the New Year with the Rock Canyon Assembly Worship Center Choir. This well-known local choir will present a rousing gospel concert.

The Utah Regional Ballet will be featured in a "Ballet In Silhouette" inside the Nu Skin building. The dancers will perform in the windows of the darkened building, allowing their silhouettes to be seen from outside. The silhouette performances will be from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. and can be viewed from the northeast side of the Nu Skin building, 100 W. Center.

For those wanting to run in the new year, a Y2K Fun Run will begin at 11:30 p.m.. The 1.2-mile run will begin on Center Street and University Avenue and follow Center to 700 East and then circle around to the starting point.
