Bertha Florence McCartney Johnson, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away December 5, 1999 at her home of causes incident to age.
She was born in Stuart, Nebraska December 19, 1902 to John and Jenny Rhodes McCartney. She married Harold W. Johnson September 23, 1935. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple May 23, 1964. He died July 16, 1996.She is survived by two daughters: Lila May (Robert) Johnson of Spanish Fork; and Lilly Pearl (Howard) Lakin of Bountiful; ten grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her mother and father; two brothers and three sisters.
She won numerous awards at the State Fair for her talents in crocheting, knitting, sewing, and other homemaking skills. She was also an avid gardener and the fruits of her garden were shared with her neighbors until the time of her passing.
She will be missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 9, 1999 at 1 p.m. in the Spanish Fork Tenth Ward Chapel, 505 East 900 North. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Goshen City Cemetery.
