TOGETHER AGAIN

Cornelia Lund Utter, affectionately known as "Babe" all of her life, died Saturday, January 30, 1999, after a short illness. Babe was 91 years young and resided at the Cottonwood Creek Retirement Center.

Babe was born in Provo, Utah, September 20, 1907, a daughter of Professor Anthony C. and Cornelia S. Lund. The family moved to Salt Lake when Babe was seven as her father was called to conduct the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Babe met Floyd J. (Chub) Utter at the University of Utah and they were married February 22, 1934. They were both very active in sports, especially golf. Babe was a member of the University of Utah swimming team while in school. Golf remained her passion throughout her life with Chub. They played many of the finest golf courses in Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and the U.S. They enjoyed 10 years of winter golf at their home at Apache Wells Country Club in Arizona.

Chub preceded babe in death December 18, 1980.

Babe taught school for seven years after graduating from the University where she was affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gamma. She worked for the Salt Lake County Department of Public Welfare for 26 years. Babe spoke often of the kids she loved and taught at the Edison School.

Babe is survived by one sister, Irene Lund Elggren; and two sisters-in-law, Hazel Utter Reeve, and Lula Lund. She was also loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews who will always remember Aunt Babe.

Aunt Babe had a terrific sense of humor and once said, "I think it is enough to say something beautiful passed my way only Victor Hugo beat me to it."

Graveside services will be held on Wed., Feb. 3, 1999, at Mount Olivet Cemetery at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
