Ardelle L. Forsberg, age 91, died February 25, 1999.
She was born July 8, 1907 in Salt Lake City to Julian B. Leavitt and Elizabeth Tracy Moyes Leavitt. She married Irvine R. Forsberg July 18, 1937, in Salt Lake City; marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple in 1990. They shared a close and loving relationship until Irv's passing May 3, 1992 at the age of 82. For most of their married life, they lived in Salt Lake and Bountiful.Ardelle worked for more than 20 years in the public school systems of Salt Lake and Davis Counties. Community service and volunteering also were an important part of her life. For many years, she served as a pink lady at Holy Cross Hospital.
Although Ardelle and Irv had no children of their own, they helped rear the children of Ardelle's sister, Helen, namely Julie Ostler McFadden, Park City; Richard H. Ostler, Salt Lake; and Woodrow R. Trathen, Boone, North Carolina. Ardelle loved her family and devoted her life to nurturing and helping them.
She had many hobbies and interests, but her great passion was gardening and a profound love of nature. The Forsbergs were well known for their beautiful gardens at their home in Bountiful. They grew an astounding display of flora using natural gardening methods while avoiding chemicals and pesticides. Ardelle was a member of several garden clubs and rose societies, winning many awards for her roses and flowers. Ardelle also became very interested in her family history and did extensive research on her ancestry. She was proud of her pioneer heritage and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by two brothers-in-law, Ernest and Harold Forsberg and their families; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen.
