FARMINGTON (AP) -- Sheriff's deputies have arrested a former Utah State University basketball player after he allegedly fired two shots from his car at another vehicle.
Deputies say Christopher O'Neil Russell, 25, was angry at a several men who laughed at him while he was kissing his girlfriend.Davis County Sheriff Detective David Harris said the incident last Saturday began on I-15. Russell told investigators that he was kissing his girlfriend when several men in another car began teasing them.
The men told deputies Russell pulled a handgun and brandished it toward them, but the men continued to follow Russell into Davis County.
Davis County sheriff investigators say no shots hit the other vehicle. Eventually, the men followed Russell's car to a home in north Layton and contacted authorities.
Harris said a search of the home produced a .40-caliber handgun with one round in the chamber. Russell was booked into the Davis County Jail on charges of brandishing a weapon and aggravated assault.
