PHOENIX -- It's a trial that's had the city and nation talking for months. But Wednesday a jury begins the only discussion that matters about Scott Falater's sleepwalking murder case.

Both sides finished presenting testimony Tuesday. Wednesday, the prosecution and defense were delivering their closing arguments. Then the jury will start deciding the fate of Falater, who claims he was sleepwalking on Jan. 16, 1997, when he stabbed his wife 44 times and dragged her into the backyard swimming pool and held her under the water.

His attorneys say the mild-mannered electrical engineer had no motive for killing his wife of 20 years, and the mother of his two children.

They contend a sleepwalking Falater went outside to fix a pool pump using a hunting knife when his wife touched him, sending him into a violent rage.
