Woodrow (Woody) Wilson, of Payson, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 21, 1999.

He was born on February 27, 1912 in Payson, a son of Robert L., and Anna Marie Schwartz Wilson. He married Jerry Deaver of Viroqua, Wisconsin, March 19, 1938 in Dubuke, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death November 19, 1995. Woody was educated in Payson schools. He worked with his father and brothers in the cement business as a young boy. At the age of 13 he left home and traveled throughout the United States, eventually working as a mechanic at the General Motors Factory in Danesville, Wisconsin. He joined the United States Navy and served in combat throughout the Pacific Campaign on a number of different warships during World War II. He helped organize and was President of the Utah County Stock Car Racing Association. He was an avid boater. He especially enjoyed the visits ofhis grandchildren.Survivors include: two sons, Kayo (Sue) Wilson, St. George; Jim (Connie) Wilson, Sandy; four grandchildren, Legion, Levi, Angi, and Matthew Wilson; two brothers and a sister, Earl Lynn Wilson, Elk Ridge; Don R. Wilson, Bountiful; Naomi Higgenbotham, Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by a sister, Melba Wilson, and a brother, R.L. Wilson.

Services will be Saturday, June 26, 1999, 11:00 a.m., in the Payson 2nd/3rd Ward Chapel, 191 North Main Street. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Saturday, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Spanish Fork American Legion, Post 68.
