Thank heaven for newspaper comic strips. I have seldom been denied an enjoyable day since I discovered that newspaper comics are one of the best barometers in the world for positivism.

After a particularly good day when I even surprised myself for having a better than normal brother's keeper attitude, I happened to read the newspaper comics, and to my surprise, I got a hearty chuckle from most of them. Then one day I stumbled all over myself, as was more normal than not in those days. I am sure I must have looked like "all thumbs" to other people. Then it dawned on me, I did indeed have a bad hair day and bad everything else. The possible doom of negativism hit me like a ton of bricks. I decided right then and there that I was going to honestly try to be more positive for the right reasons. One evening shortly thereafter, when I finished reading some of the woe-unto-the-world articles in the newspaper, I finally got around to reading the funny papers as though I didn't have any particular reason to read them. Sure enough, the world came alive; inspirational bells seemed to start ringing, colored neon lights seemed to flash on and off, the birds seem to sing more melodically, flowers seemed more beautiful and bugs' ears even seemed cuter. I thought to myself, I must be in heaven.

Each day now I ask the Lord to bless me to strive harder to be more positive so I can continue to enjoy, and help others to get and enjoy a hearty chuckle out of the simple little funny things of life.

Thank the Lord for comic artists and advertisers who create some of the most delightful and funniest things in the world. Some of the best medicines for what ails us, that the world could ever produce.
