Adopt-A-Native Elder Program: Help support traditional Navajo Elders and children.Aging Services: volunteer ombudsman advocate for nursing home residents. Will be given 30 hours training which will give state certification.

Alta Care Center: assisting with recreational activities for seniors, also need people for the Adopt-A-Grandparent program.

America Reads Programs: tutoring children K-6.

American Cancer Society: females ages 18-35 to teach groups regarding breast cancer; also help in providing transportation to doctor's appointments.

American Red Cross: donor schedulers, reception room greeters, warehouse workers, clerical assistants, instructors to provide essential training for babysitters, instructors and helpers for CPR classes and deliverers.

Art Mentoring Program: art mentoring for inner-city youth.

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary: Assist with adoptions, foster homes, office work, and events, in Salt Lake City. Bridges Program: tutors older than age 45 for reading, writing, spelling and math 2-4 hours a week for children, during the school day. Training provided, background check required.

Camp Kostopulos in Emigration Canyon: Aug. 16-20. Need help to ensure safety and fun at camp for 40 adults with developmental disabilities. Minimum two-hour increments.

Canine Companions for Independence: Train dogs to provide assistance to the disabled (other than the blind).

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate): Work with children in court.

Catholic Community Services: a variety of services to include delivering groceries, office assistant for case workers, sorting clothes and mentors for refugees.

Cause: (Utah Coalition Against Sexual Abuse) various office duties.

Central City Senior Center: fund- raiser chairman, host for activities and trips.

The Children's Service Society: parent advocate, assisting parents in at-risk, home-based program. Must be at least 21 and make a nine-month commitment. Spanish speaking helpful.

Davis County Children's Justice Center: Needs participants for monthly "Friend's Board" fund-raising planning meeting.

Division of Youth Services: tutors for at-risk youth ages 8-12; green thumbs for Grandpa Glen's Children's Garden; distributors of Shelter Home recruitment flyers; quilters to teach teens.

Easter Seals: family and Friends, summer day camps and group respite programs.

Faith in Action: volunteers older than 18 years to assist isolated seniors in daily living.

Genesis Services: Help with Human Rights Committee in regard to employment issues for the disabled. Knowledge of legal issues, abuse and advocacy helpful.

Golden Oldies and the Murray Senior Bands: band musicians to perform in senior care facilities throughout the valley.

Greenbacks Bringing Hope: Assist director with monthly newsletter, organize training sessions, correspondence, preparing handouts and other documents, public relations, board meetings, finding resources for clients and preparation for and assistance at Mother's Conference Sept. 11, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Guadelupe School: ESL tutors Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.

Heart & Soul: seeking performers (solo and group) to provide entertainment in senior car facilities.

Holy Cross Ministries: people older than 16 to tutor English or provide child care.

Homeless Children's Foundation: Work with children in the classroom 9 a.m. to -noon or 3 to 5 p.m. Need classroom supplies, diapers and baby wipes.

Homeless Shelter School: one-on-one tutoring.

The Homeless Youth Resource Center: people willing to work with and are sensitive to the lifestyle of clients. Orientation, Thursdays 1 p.m. Also needs backpacks, sleeping bags, blankets, and camping supplies.

Homeless Youth Resource Center Training/Mentor Program: technical writer for grants.

Housing Authority of the County of Salt Lake: Tutor at-risk youth K-9, various sites, time and days available.

Hospice: assisting the terminally ill and their families by providing companionship and helping with miscellaneous needs; training provided.

International Rescue Committee: teaching English to refugees. Many speak German, French, or Italian. Flexible schedule.

Legal Aid: Aid staff attorneys to provide low-income legal service.

LifeCare: Retirees experienced in management and organization needed to help direct and facilitate services. Benefits included. Also needs fabric and batting for quilts. Also need personal shopping and laundry carts for seniors

Literacy Action Center: Teach literacy skills.

M. Lynn Bennion Elementary: reading tutors, one hour daily, flexible.

Neighborhood House: (Riverside Adult Day Center) beauticians, 1 day a week, appoximately 4-hour shift.

New Outlook Associates: providing rehabilitation through creative arts therapy for people recovering from accidents, illnesses and disabilities.

Ouelessebougou-Utah Alliance: poster hanging for Saturday 5K race, as well as help with the race from 7 to 11 a.m. on that day. Also need van drivers for that race.

Red Butte Garden: Horticultural aides receive hands-on training in planting, weeding, and general maintenance. Visitors Center aide, garden volunteers for children's programs.

Rosemond Elementary School (Riverton): tutors 1-2 hours a week

RSVP: Seniors 55 and older needed to assist in tutoring and service to homebound elderly.

Safe Place: community education specialists and transportation workers for children.

Salt Lake Art Department: free training for docent program and gallery tours, flexible hours.

Salt Lake City Library: information desk attendant, main library, 3 hours a week. Also need a clerical worker 4 hours a week in human resources.

Salt Lake County Aging Services: Large and small groups, families, and individuals of all ages for a variety of meaningful assignments. Also recruiting low income seniors to work with children or seniors (reimbursement/benefits provided). In addition, volunteers to visit seniors in their homes and help with financial matters.

Salt Lake Donated Dental: people over 18 needed during reconstruction and renovation.

Salt Lake Interfaith Hospitality Network: working with homeless to provide hope.

Salvation Army: Help needed to make 500 sandwiches for the hungry.

Sorenson Multi-Cultural Center: help in computer lab monitoring children and adults.

Splore: assist with summer canoeing program for individuals with disabilities and special needs.

State Office of Education: GED on TV; student support, correcting exams, administrative tasks.

Success By 6: Sign language interpreter needed to assist deaf parents with translation, education and referrals, first and third Tuesdays 9-10 am.

Tapestry of Polygamy: part-time office assistant for light typing, filing, answering phones. Legal assistant part-time to assist attorney with research, filings, case preparation, and management.

This Is The Place Heritage Park: cataloging, registration, inventory and general collection work at the park a few hours a day, one or two days a week.

Traditional Support Center: Assist young women with their searches for jobs, housing and community networks, providing encouragement and resource referrals.

Transitional Living Center: Needs a full-size bed

Traveler's Aid Society: volunteers for Scout troups, give music lessons to children (other than piano), assist in children's playroom for adult classes, organize books for Children's Literacy Center.

TriConnections: organization for the disabled; folding candy boxes.

Utah AIDS Foundation: a variety of services but hotline help urgently needed.

Utah Alzheimer's Association: Help with special projects for National Alzheimer's Disease Month and the annual Gala.

Utah Animal-Assisted Therapy: providing animal assisted therapy in care-giving facilities along the Wasatch Front and Utah County.

Utah Council for the Blind: readers, transporters, guides and partners for group activities.

Utah Division of Wildlife Resources: office help, assisting with information and public education.

Utah Food Bank: Help sort food, build food orders, help at garden. Monday- Thursday 3-9 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Utah Hispanic-American Festival: face painters, booth sitters, help with festival setup and cleanup.

Utah Historical Society: docents and publications assistant; conducting tours, implementing educational programs, assist with publications. Training and museum benefits provided.

Utah Legal Services: Perform initial client interviews.

Utah State Park: research help, updating database and general office.

Utah's River Council: help protect Utah's free-flowing rivers.

Valley Mental Health Resource Program: Need song leader for sing-a-long group for a day treatment program serving nursing homes. 30-50 minutes, 2-4 times a month minimum commitment.

Vista Care: Needs those talented in music, art, crafts gardening, reading, etc. Additionally, needs marketing and office support.
