Pokémon is out. Boy Crazy! trading cards, featuring real-life males age 12 to 22, are the newest collectibles for girls.
From Nov. 27 to Dec. 10, the hunks featured in the cards — including 11 Utahns — will vie for the title of Boy Crazy! Boy of the Year and a $10,000 college scholarship. Judging is done by girls who log on to boycrazy.com. The series of cards, launched on Valentine's Day this year, identifies its 363 models by first-name only. There's Justin, 18, of Murray, whose card says his favorite pickup line is: "You were an angel sent down on this earth just for me."
The profile on Darren, 20, of Oakley, adds, "If you look closely, you may see stars in his eyes — especially if you're on a date with him by a campfire on a beach."
Tonight, girls won't just have to admire them from a distance. Seven of these dudes will sign autographs and give away campaign cards from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Classic Skating Center, 9155 S. 255 West in Sandy.
Boy Crazy! was created by Cindy Thornburg, president of the game company Decipher Inc. She and teen consultants scoured the malls across the country to recruit boys to pose for the cards.
