HANKSVILLE, Wayne County — The pilot of a single-engine airplane is dead and two of his passengers are in the hospital after their aircraft crashed Sunday morning.
Killed was:
A.C. Ekker, 55, Hanksville.
Ekker died en route to the St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., after the 9:48 a.m. crash in the desert 15 miles east of Hanksville. Passengers Ryan Johnson, 26, Cedar City, and Marje Dorrell, 70, Grand Junction, Colo., were listed in fair condition with multiple fractures Monday morning at St. Mary's Hospital.

Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration were scheduled to arrive at the scene sometime Monday to begin investigating the cause of the crash.
