Mickey Rooney underwent multiple bypass heart surgery after a blockage was discovered as he tested a heart machine he'd been asked to promote.

"He's in great shape and should be home on Christmas Day," said Kevin Pawley, manager of the 80-year-old actor.

Rooney underwent 3 1/2 hours of surgery Wednesday. Two days earlier, he was examining a medical device that scans the body like an X-ray, then produces a 3-dimensional computerized view of internal organs.

Rooney's heart scan showed narrowing of the arteries. Doctors advised him there was complete blockage of one artery and partial blockage of another.
