The Salt Lake County Library System is the largest provider of public library services in the state of Utah. Now the latest in-house publication for the S.L. County Library reports its system is ranked as having the seventh-highest usage in the country for populated areas serving populations of more than 500,000.
In a draft copy of its latest newsletter, the system's 17 libraries are credited with offering 1.86 million popular items for checkout, including books, musical cassettes, books on tape, CDs, videos, DVDs, magazines and CD-ROMs.
Estimated total circulation of materials for the year 2000 is estimated to reach 8.5 million items. Approximately 23 percent of the library's budget goes toward materials.
