Bob Morris, our beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend passed away on Memorial Day May 29, 2000 after his third courageous battle with cancer. His last days were spent in the arms of his loving family and friends.
Bob was born in Elkhorn, Utah (Hailstone) on August 19, 1930 to Joseph H. and Nile Allison Morris. Bob was raised on the family ranch at Hailstone, (currently under the waters of the Jordanelle Reservoir). He spent many fine wonderful days fishing, hunting, swimming, and working on the ranch with the cattle, horses and sheep.Bob graduated from Wasatch High School in 1948. He married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Carlile on January 11, 1950. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bonnie preceded him in death on March 23, 1994. He missed her tremendously. Bob later met and married Sharon Langlois on June 26, 1997.
Bob lived his entire life in the Heber Valley where he was a very successful businessman. Over his lifetime Bob served his fellow man in various capacities. He was an active member of the LDS Church where he served faithfully. He was called to serve his country in the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1951. He served as a volunteer firefighter for over 30 years.
At the time of his death he was serving as a Heber City Councilman - where he served for the past 16 years. He has served on the Wasatch County Board of Health, on the Heber Light & Power Board, on the Heber Valley Special Service District Sewer Board, on the Parks and Recreation Board, on the Wasatch County Fair Board and on the Board of Foster Care for the State of Utah. He stated many times that life had given him so much that he felt he needed to give something back. He was a local voice for general welfare and good in his community. He was loved by many and he cared for all. Bob loved to be outdoors where he was an active participant in the agricultural industry in the Heber Valley. He loved to travel and explore with his wonderful and loving wife, Sharon.
He is survived by his wife; son, Robert A. Morris, Jr. (Billie) Heber City, Utah; daughter, Mrs. Debra Probst (Craig) Midway, Utah; son, Scott Morris, San Diego, California; daughter, Mrs. Jan Lythgoe (Scot) Heber City, Utah; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild who are and were the light, joy and pride of his life. We love you Dad, we will miss you.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1, 2000, 12 noon, in the Heber LDS 1st Ward, 325 E. 500 N., Heber City. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, May 31 from 6-8 p.m., and Thursday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
