Last year: Ted Tryba won by two strokes.

Last week: Tiger Woods shot a 12-under-par 272 to win the U.S. Open in Pebble Beach, Calif. It was the third major title of Woods' career. Woods is the first player in the history of the event to finish 72 holes at double digits under par.

On the tour: Woods leads the money list by $2.5 million. Hal Sutton, who is second, has won $2.4 million.

Last year: Juli Inkster beat Liselotte Neumann by four strokes for her second major title of 1999.

Last week: Annika Sorenstam eagled the first playoff hole to beat Karrie Webb and win the Evian Masters in Evian-les-Bains, France.

On the Tour: Webb has won the last two majors. ... Eight of the nine active Hall of Fame members are in the field. . . . The last 18 winners of the event are also in the field.

Last week: Doug Tewell beat Larry Nelson and Walter Hall by one stroke to win the SBC Championship in San Antonio.

On the Tour: Lee Trevino has finished in the top-10 in all seven of his appearances at the event, including a win in 1993. . . . Brian Kinchen, a Carolina Panthers tight end, made it to the second round of qualifying for last week's U.S. Open. . . . Al Del Greco has won the NFL portion of the event five times.
