DJs come and go regularly in this ever-changing business of formats and personalities. Like many a coach, when a DJ is hired, he's fired — the date just hasn't been filled in yet.
The exceptions are a few, like "Dain and Peggy" of KSFI, who have multiyear contracts. In the case of Dain Craig and Peggy Ijams, their contracts run through Jan. 1, 2004.
In any event, since DJs come and go so much, here's an update of who is on the air now during the morning drive hours and at what station. (To make the list more compact, it includes only commercial DJs and overlooks most syndicated or automated shows and does not duplicate most simulcast frequencies.)
Listed in parenthesis is the name of the radio host(s) and station call letters, if different, from about five years ago to highlight the many changes since 1995:
(Only three morning shows — Tom Barberi, "Fisher, Todd and Erin," "Country Joe"/Dick Jacobson, which make up less than 12 percent of 26 total shows — remain intact after five years.)

RADIO HAPPENINGS — "Simon and Brady" on KBEE got some listeners to "Take the Plunge" on June 14. A young couple, ready for marriage, did a special skydive together as part of a radio stunt. Even Scott Simon himself tried his first skydive to pay off a radio bet. The "B-98.7" DJs were also active on June 16, as they rode a lawn mower mover down the Bangerter Highway . . . Tracy Chapman was let go from KKAT last month. However, now he's been rehired by parent company Clear Channel Communications to do traffic reports for their Salt Lake stations. He said there's also a chance he might be a weekend DJ on KKAT soon . . .
"Johnson and Johnson" on KUBL had a special Father's Day contest last week. They selected five dads for a race to see who could assemble a gas grill the fastest. The catch was that wives could only read directions to their husbands, the dads couldn't actually see the instruction manuals . . .
Meanwhile, "Fisher, Todd and Erin" on KISN staged a weird contest, too — to see what parents would do for their kids to see the 'N Sync show held last Saturday in Salt Lake City. Perhaps the strangest contestant was a dentist who performed a root canal on himself. Also, you rarely see weathermen fess up to having given an inaccurate forecast, but "Fisher, Todd and Erin" came clean Monday by saying they claimed Friday it would be sunny and 88 degrees on Sunday. It ended up being cool, cloudy and rainy, and the DJs apologized . . .
KSOP fed 100 people a continental breakfast Saturday during at the sale of Tim McGraw/Faith Hill tickets at the Delta Center. The station also continues Bellamy Brothers ticket giveaways and staged a "Sing Along with the (Dixie) Chicks" this week for a chance at tickets to that concert . . . Jon Carter on KRSP awarded another Las Vegas trip to a lucky listener, while KBZN continues its trip giveaway each weekday.
