OREM — Vending machines, doors and windows were extensively damaged during a vandalism spree Tuesday at Northridge Elementary School, 1660 N. 50 East.
Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards said the vandals entered the school through a window on the south side of the window. Police believe the glass was shattered with a rock.
"Once inside the school, the thief or thieves broke the small glass panes in the doors of the main office and the teacher's lounge," he said.
Four vending machines were vandalized in the teacher's lounge in an unsuccessful attempt to steal money, Edward said.
About $50 was taken from a petty cash box in the main office.
"But that pales by comparison to the hundreds of dollars in damage done to the vending machines, broken doors and windows," Edwards said.
