ANGOLA, La. — Feltus Taylor, a cook who murdered one former co-worker and left another paralyzed during a 1991 robbery, was executed Tuesday night by injection, Louisiana prison officials said.

A last-ditch appeal in state district court was rejected Tuesday afternoon, and the U.S. Supreme Court refused to block the execution Monday. Five earlier execution dates had been stayed.

Louisiana State Penitentiary Warden Burl Cain reported that Taylor was pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m. CDT.
