PROVO — Sixteen students from Utah have been named Gordon B. Hinckley Scholars, one of the most prestigious undergraduate academic awards at Brigham Young University.

This year, 50 students from around the country were awarded the scholarships, which bear the name of the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Winners are given the 1 1/2-tuition scholarship for eight semesters.
