MEXICO CITY (Reuters) — All 19 people including four children aboard a Mexican domestic airliner were killed when their British Aerospace Jet Stream J-32 plane crashed Saturday night in southern Chiapas state, officials said.

"There were 19 people on board, and there are no survivors," Enrique Cordero of the National Civil Protection Agency told Reuters.

Authorities were removing the bodies from the crash site in a heavily forested area of southern Chiapas state, he said.

Aerocaribe Flight 7831 crashed after leaving the Chiapas capital of Tuxtla Gutierrez en route to Villahermosa in neighboring Tabasco state, civil aviation inspector Miguel Esquinta told Reuters.

Aerocaribe, an affiliate of Mexican holding co. Cintra , said it was the the worst accident in its 25-year history.

It was not immediately known if there were any foreigners aboard the plane, but a list of passengers released by the airline had two children named McDade.

The twin engine aircraft was carrying 17 passengers, the pilot and co-pilot, Cordero said. It was discovered on Sunday morning in a mountainous region 42 miles from Villahermosa, he added.

The cause of the crash was being investigated.
