Naomi Patricia Nelson Checketts, age 74, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away July 4, 2000 at the U of U Hospital of heart failure.

Born July 9, 1925 in Logan, Utah to Olof Henry Nelson and Naomi Victoria Nelson. Married F. Widtsoe Checketts on March 17, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Patricia was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served many years as a Primary President and as a Temple Worker in the Seattle Temple. She was a serene, noble, peaceful, full-of-integrity woman without guile and an eye single to the glory of God. She had a spirit of long suffering and she always put others needs before her own. Her continual pleasantness, never-complaining attitude was ever present. A beloved and revered quality was her ability as an animated, detailed storyteller. Her flawless heart and sweet spirit of continual forgiveness and understanding were something that everyone felt. She walks beside us even now, her spirit flowing through our minds. Her precious feminine flowered dresses, flowers in her hair, her soft voice whispering comfort to all, ever remains with us. Her dying words were to her children; "I will come back and be with you and watch over you and never leave you." She is truly a sister to the Savior, for she is so identically like Him. We will miss you mother, but then again, you are still with us.

Survived by her children: Darby V. Checketts, P. Paige Parsons, David W. Checketts, Sannette L. Cottam, Daniel L. Checketts, Mary Ann Gates, Thomas P. Checketts and Heather Ann Bryant; 31 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; brothers: Robert S. Nelson, C. G. "Pete" Nelson of Phoenix, Arizona and Olof Nelson, Las Vegas, Nevada. She is preceded in death by her husband, F. Widtsoe Checketts; her brother, James D. Nelson; her mother, Naomi Victoria Passey Nelson and her father, Olof Henry Nelson.
