Utah Starzz power forward Natalie Williams is known for her double-doubles. She led the WNBA with 19 of them this season.
She completed another double Wednesday when she was named for the second year to the 2000 All-WNBA First Team, joining Lisa Leslie of Los Angeles, Ticha Penicheiro of Sacramento and Cynthia Cooper and Sheryl Swoopes of Houston.
Williams, now practicing with the U.S. Olympic team, received 210 total points and 30 first-team votes from a panel of WNBA media in all 16 league cities. Swoopes, the league's MVP, received 60 first-team votes and 300 points to lead everyone. Leslie rated 299 points and 58 first-team votes, Cooper had 282/51 and Penicheiro 270/48.
Named to the second team were Houston's Tina Thompson (174/21), Minnesota's Katie Smith (94/2), Sacramento's Yolanda Griffith (177/3), New York's Teresa Weatherspoon (130/8) and Orlando's Shannon Johnson and Minnesota's Betty Lennox, who tied with 67/5.
Two other Utah players received votes for the all-league team. Forward Adrienne Goodson received six points, and point guard Jennifer Azzi, who missed half the season with a broken hand, received three.
Williams is a two-time member of the WNBA All-Star team who led the WNBA in rebounding this season with an average of 11.6 a game. She was fourth in league scoring at 18.7 points a game and third in average minutes played at 35.8.
In the United States' 70-31 win over Canada at Reunion Arena in Dallas on Wednesday night, Williams had seven points and led all rebounders with 11. It was the second straight U.S. win over the Canadians in a three-game series that concludes Saturday in Oakland, Calif.
