John Grisham plans to give nearly 1,000 acres in conservation easements to an environmental group.
Grisham, whose books include "The Firm" and "The Pelican Brief," has spent seven years acquiring rolling grassland near his southern Albemarle County, Va., horse farm. The most recent acquisition came in January, when Grisham and his wife bought a 318-acre property from a group of doctors.
"We have no plans to ever sell it, but who knows what will happen when we're gone," Grisham said Monday. "It's just nice to know this land will always be pristine."
