Jack Pembroke, a native of Salt Lake City from Oct. 24, 1913 until Feb. 13, 1998, died on September 26, 2000 at the age of 86 in Lake County, California. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1937 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and History, was a member of the Owl and Key, Skull and Bones, and Sigma Chi Fraternity.

He served as field director for the Red Cross from 1942 through 1945. In 1946 he joined Pembroke Company where he became the company president and chairman of the board until 1969 when he retired.

He served as president of the Civic Music Association, the Businessmen's Alliance, and the Retail Merchants Bureau. He also was director for Community Nursing Service, the Better Business Bureau 1960-65, and director/treasurer of Utah Citizens Rate Association 1969-1971.

He was an active member of the Rotary Club, Alta Club, and the Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Ione Thompson Pembroke of Middletown, California; his daughters: Nancy Austring (husband Richard) of Middletown, California; and Ann Holder (husband Kent) of Huntington Beach, California; two grandchildren: Aaron Preston, (wife, Nicole) of Torrance, California and Aimee Rogers (husband, Patrick) of Beal Air Force Base, California; and dear friends: Doctor Andrea Adams and Doctor Eugene Millhouse of Rochester, Minnesota.

At his request, there will be no memorial services.
