J. Rulon Anderton, age 89, died September 5, 2000.

He was born April 22, 1911 in Inverury (near Monroe), Utah to Levi J. and Rocinda Elizabeth Jensen Anderton. He moved with his parents to the Uintah Basin in 1917 where his family homesteaded in Cedarview, Utah. He married Erma Gines in 1934 and they were the parents of eight children. They were later divorced. He married Ruth Sundstrom Golden in 1967 and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph Anderton and Arden Anderton; sisters Deane A. Call, Elizabeth A. Brown; and Blanche A. Asmus.

He is survived by 11 children: Janice A. Corallo, Orem; Kenneth G. Anderton (Jean-ne), Vernal; Neil G. Anderton (Carolyn), Heber City; Catheryn A. Withy, Orem; Elaine A. Kirsch (Chris), Orem; Richard G. Anderton (Kay), Salt Lake City; Lloyd Rulon Anderton (Tara), Orem; Lisa A. Ericksen (John), Spokane, WA; David R. Golden (Deanna), Mur-ray; Stephanie G. Hurst (Kerry), Alpine: and Eve G. Olson, Orem; 54 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers: Neil L. Anderton, Salt Lake City; and Daniel J. Anderton; Ogden.

He served as a Duchesne County Commissioner for eight years. He served on various Farm Home Administration Boards and represented many farming organizations during his long life. He served in numerous positions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including the High Council, bishopric, and as a missionary to the Indian Mission in Randlett, Utah, and a full-time mission with his wife, Ruth, to the Missouri Independence

Mission.

Rulon loved being a farmer and appreciated the closeness to nature that his life's work brought to him. His life spanned time that took him from horse teams to computers, and he was always anxious to try the latest methods and technology available. His love of life, his enthusiasm for nature, his love of learning, and his love of people made him many friends. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the Roosevelt Stake Center, 447 East Lagoon St., Roosevelt, Utah. Friends may call at the Hullinger-Olpin Mortuary, 457 East 300 North, Roosevelt, Friday evening from 6-8 p.m., and at the stake center from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services on Saturday. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery, Orem, Utah, with dedicatory services at 3:30 p.m. on September 9, 2000.
