Salt Lake-based embedded systems company Lineo Inc. said this week that Matt Harris has been appointed as its new chief executive officer, a position formerly held by Lineo founder Bryan Sparks.

Harris formerly was the company's chief operating officer and was responsible for all of Lineo's internal operations. Before assuming the position of COO in January 2001, Harris ran Lineo's mergers and acquisitions group.

He also previously worked for Electronic Data Systems and practiced law for six years with Heller, Ehrman, White and McAuliffe. He was a founding partner of the Summit Law Group.
