The Intermountain Society of Artists will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in the Sandy Senior Center (9310 S. 1300 East). Tony Rasmussen will be the featured artist and will demonstrate his oil painting technique. The public is invited.

Joseph Brickey, local artist whose paintings were compiled into the book "When Jesus Was Born in Bethlehem," has been called as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to paint murals for temples and visitors' centers around the world. His newest work will be seen on Temple Square as part of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

The Utah Transit Authority — as part of the Art in Transit public art program — has selected four artists to produce and install art at four new TRAX stations along the University Line before Dec. 15. Gregg Lefevre, New York City, will install a books theme sculpture at the Library Station (200 East). Michael Moonbird, Victoria Lyons, Paul Heath and Valerie Price of Salt Lake's "Bad Dog Rediscovers America" will have their colorful benches and railings at the Trolley Station (600 East). Stuart Keeler and Michael Machnic, Seattle, will install their wheel themed sculpture at the 900 East Station. And Michael Stutz, California, will use the Stadium Station as a location for his larger-than-life figure in bronze strips.
